MV Nyerere Capsized - Hundreds feared Dead
Tanzania was on Thursday hit by a devastating water accident on the Lake Victoria when the ferry MV Nyerere capsized about 50 meters away from the berth.The accident which is believed to be caused by overloading and inexperienced on part of its crew has killed over 130 with hundreds passenger trapped or missing.
131 bodies have been recovered from the Lake, according to Mr Isack Kamwelwe, the country's Minister for works, transport and communications , 44 bodies were recovered on Thursday after disaster, on Friday 87 bodies were found of which 37 bodies have been identified by their relatives.
It is believed the ferry was carrying about 400 passengers and some goods.
